Mrs. Ijeoma Jatto
St. Jude’s Private Schools was established 1978, and is one of the pioneering schools in Festac Town. It began the same year the estate was inaugurated.
The school was originally known as Crown Day Nursery School when it was located at Jubril Martins street in Surulere, but it relocated to Festac Town due to its growth and expansion. Thereafter it was re-named ‘St. Jude’s Private School’, after Saint Jude – the Patron Saint of impossible situations. This was as a result of the difficulties encountered by our Founder/Proprietor, Mrs Ijeoma Jatto, whilst she was trying to procure the land.
The school produced it’s first primary school leavers in 1983, and from then on its pupils went on to set and break success records in their primary school leaving certificate examinations. As time went by, the students’ parents began to request that the school’s management consider expanding the school by establishing a secondary school. They wanted consistent educational excellence for their children as they went on to the secondary level, and trusted St Jude’s to deliver on that, as it had at the primary level.
The secondary school was established in 1994, and since then the institution has been known as St. Jude’s Private Schools. Like their primary school counterparts, since inception the secondary school students have consistently produced remarkable results in the exams set by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Annually, both schools, primary and secondary, receive numerous accolades (national and international) in a variety of academic subjects, as well extra-curricular activities, particularly in Music. Please see our News section for details of recent awards.
In recent years past students, proud of their alma-mater, have brought their own children to pass through an educational system they trust will serve their children at least as well as it served them.
We look forward to serving you and your children.
